The aestivation hypothesis is almost certainly wrong. Bennett, Hanson and Riedel (2019), who appear to know some more information theory than Sandberg, Armstrong and Cirkovic, show why.
Although this hypothesis turned out to be a dead end, this is the kind of visionary insight that could lead to a new crucial consideration, and I applaud the authors for their endeavor.
