EA Bristol presents: Study Hall

EA Bristol is starting a Study Hall on Saturday morning. What’s a study hall? It’s an opportunity to use peer pressure and carve out dedicated time to work on whatever project you might be working on/avoiding.

We’ll meet at 10:45, work starts at 11.
Our current meeting place is Bristol central library. The ground floor is fairly quiet but you are allowed to talk, there’s usually space for 5-10 people to work together, and the wifi is free (although you will need to register an account with Bristol Library before you can use it (https://www.bristol.gov.uk/libraries.../join-the-library))

We will normally do four Pomodoro blocks (25 minutes work, 5-minute break) until 1. Afterward, we often get coffee/lunch together.

Do anything you like in the 5-minute breaks, but it’s encouraged to talk about what you & others are working on or have accomplished.
Feel free to come in late, but don’t interrupt people working. Say hello quickly and grab a seat.

Guidelines
• You can study whatever you want, alone or in groups.
• This is work time, not socializing.
• Say hi when arriving.
• Don’t talk during promos.
• Do talk during breaks.
• Talking about work is encouraged.
• Bragging about work is encouraged even more!

What do people do here?
Some current examples:
• Writing a dissertation.
• Studying an online AI/machine learning course.
• Reading books & making notes.
• Learning a new programming language & working on personal coding projects.
