Suffering—whether physical, psychological, or otherwise—is one of the most fundamental and urgent realities of existence. And yet, no scientific discipline or global institution is fully dedicated to it as a central concern.
I propose to help fill this gap by inviting those who recognize the importance of this issue to join a working team responsible for implementing the following plan over the next few years. The goal is to develop three interrelated activities:
A World Center for the Control of Excessive Suffering
A new scientific discipline called algoscience
An AI application to address questions related to suffering
I am looking for individuals who are ready to get actively involved—at various levels—to help bring this plan to life. People from different backgrounds are welcome (non-exhaustive list):
Researchers or practitioners in arts and literature, animal welfare, biology, economics, education, environmental science, ethics, healthcare, history, law, media, neuroscience, philosophy, politics, psychology, religion, sociology...
People with special skills such as communicators, strategists, writers, funders, humanitarians, activists, thinkers, sincerely curious minds...
Developers or designers to help build interactive tools or a prototype of the AI application.
