Caution: prepare to be extremely alarmed, depressed, angry, and existentially troubled for days afterwards. This interview is the exact opposite of light entertainment. It’s likely to leave you deeply concerned about the recklessness of the AI industry. It might also leave you ashamed of how the EA movement has naively trusted that industry to take our concerns seriously.
My reaction was to Google “diamondoid bacteria” and then wonder why no one on the Internet has uttered that phrase other than Eliezer or someone quoting him.
