Myself and a colleague are launching a brand new Fellowship Programme for EA members around the world; not just those who are at an institutional or a local setting.
The aim of the International Innovation Fellowship is to give people from across the EA Global community the chance to engage with likeminded, highly idea-driven peers. As many of you are aware, the Centre for Effective Altruism supports many different groups, such as EA Fellowships at universities. These groups act as both educational and community idea generators, and we want to take this a step further with the most engaged and motivated in the EA community working in small groups on new ideas and interdisciplinary intersections. We also hope to generate multi-author Working Papers from this. We also have exclusive events planned throughout, such as talks and tailored training/advice sessions.
The inaugural programme will be particularly interested in discussing three areas of concern that we think need some general consensus and understanding in the EA community:
The AI-Crypto nexus
The Animal Welfare and Law/Jurisprudence nexus
The Risk-Boundaries of Scientific Enquiry
We are setting up the new Fellowship on Twist, as we feel this will be most conducive to an organised, clear workflow. All meetings will be held virtually for a period of 6 months, though the structure may change according to member requirements. This will be a unique opportunity to be part of something quite special, and build on the spirit of EAGx!
