EA Data Science—Community call w/Pure Earth

Pure Earth is a pioneer in developing evidence-based solutions to mercury and lead poisoning and pollution. They partner with governments, communities and industry leaders to identify and implement solutions that stop toxic exposures, protect health, and restore environments. These partners include the World Bank, United Nations, and LEEP. Their efforts prioritize actions to protect the developing brains and bodies of children and pregnant women living in toxic hot spots. They continue working to stop the multigenerational cycle of poisoning that is endemic in many low and middle-income countries.

On the call, they will share more about their programs to identify and mitigate the effects of toxic metal pollution. One of their longest running, the Toxic Sites Identification Program (TSIP) serves as the largest global database of sites contaminated with toxic chemicals, with nearly 5,000 toxic sites in over 50 countries. It is made publicly available to provide investigators and policy makers a breadth of information that would otherwise be hard to gather.

They are partnering with us on volunteer work for data science, database engineering, web development, and further enhancements. Join our call to learn more!
