All around the world, governments restrict access to psychoactive drugs, drugs that change how you think or feel, because they deem them unsafe to the public. In this sequence Michael Plant argues that the effects of drug prohibition causes unnecessary misery. Firstly by making it harder for people to use drugs for medical or recreational purposes or to conduct research into their impact. Secondly by the aggressive efforts required to enforce these bans. Plant will first explore some of the strongest arguments in favor of DPR and subsequently do a cost-effectiveness analysis to compare it to other EA cause areas.
