Effective Advocacy Needs Solid Evidence
Founded in August 2023, Animetrics brings the tools of economics and econometrics to the forefront of animal advocacy. Our mission is clear: to strengthen evidence-based research and empower advocates, especially in underrepresented regions such as the Global South.
Led by two experienced researchers—one full-time Ph.D. economist and a part-time doctoral candidate—our team specializes in research methods, experiments, and policy evaluation. By uncovering actionable insights through our work, we aim to make advocacy efforts more effective and impactful.
What We Do?
We offer free capacity-building services, including:
Impact evaluation
Survey design
Data analysis
Research proposal development
Trainings
We do collaborative and original research on critical issues impacting animal advocacy.
Over the past 14 months, we’ve partnered with 13 organizations—including Mercy For Animals, Middle East Vegan Society, Plant Based Treaty, Faunalytics, and PETA Deutschland e.V.— completed 9 capacity-building projects and initiated 4 ongoing research projects.
One of our key publications, “Tech and Data in the Movement,”, developed in collaboration with Vegan Hacktivists, explores the role of technology in animal advocacy. Our ongoing projects include studies on policy regulations on labeling of plant-based products, studying the impact of educational interventions, and understanding consumer attitudes toward veganism in the Middle East.
What Sets Us Apart?
We focus on impact. Our work relies on economics, econometrics, and causal inference to measure the true effects of advocacy efforts and the economic impact of advocacy initiatives.
We prioritize neglected regions, such as the Middle East and the other regions in the Global South, where advocates often face unique challenges. As economists from Türkiye, we bring important understandings of cultural, economic, and policy dynamics in the Middle East and Muslim-majority populations.
We use an intersectional framework to connect animal rights with broader social justice movements.
How We’ll Use Funding?
For 2024, we face a significant funding gap of $67,570, which increases to $154,000 for 2025. With additional funding, we can:
Keep our operations going.
Continue our free support to organizations to help them do more with less.
Conduct more in-depth research on critical issues, such as policy effectiveness and consumer behavior.
Equip advocates worldwide with actionable insights and tools for better advocacy strategies.
Why Support Us?
Supporting Animetrics means funding a focused approach to solving important problems in animal advocacy with solid research. Our work fills crucial gaps in the movement and helps make advocacy more inclusive and effective by connecting it with wider social issues.
