Community Dinner—Pacifism and Just War Theory—Thu 12.06

  • Under what conditions are wars permissible, if at all?

  • Which recent and ongoing wars could we classify as just, if at all?

  • Can we find a middle point between pacifism and just war theory?

  • Does it even make sense to defend pacifism if war seems inevitable anyway?

Let’s discuss! Join us for a discussion evening on June 12th, 2025, to discuss whether pacifism and just war theory can be reconciled with each other. We’ll prepare a summery couscous dish together, eat, and explore ideas in a casual setting.

Required reading: Pacifism for Nonpacifists by Robert L. Holmes

For this event, we kindly request that attendants complete the reading beforehand. That way we can pick apart arguments more effectively :)

If you plan to come, please make sure to sign up so we know how many to cook for!
