I looked into this about 14 years ago and heard that there was limited room for more funding for some of the most promising interventions. For example, this applied to the “oral rehydration salts” that you mentioned, and which Peter Unger’s very EA book Living High and Letting Die—which I read at the time—advocated donating and earning lots of money for.
