To delete a comment forever, first retract it, then click on the permalink, then click on the ‘delete’ button. Note: this applies to comments that haven’t been replied to; comments with replies can be retracted, but not deleted. (In this case, you wouldn’t have been able to delete the comment, since Ryan had already replied to it when you decided to strike it from the record.)
Hi Ben—thanks for the feature request. Anton Geraschenko, who founded Math Overflow, advised me that it’s important to keep object-level and meta-discussion separate so that the latter doesn’t take focus away from the former. So can you please put this discussion here: Improvements to the EA Forum.
It’s great to see improvements like these. If you have more feature suggestions, rather than scattering these suggestions all over the site, it’s best to concentrate them in this thread or in this Google form (responses here).
