I think it would be really interesting for someone to write about the intellectual history of environmental ethics and animal ethics, and probably environmentalism more broadly. The rift between them dates back at least to the 1980s, and I think it’s important for EAs interested in environmentalism or (wild) animal welfare to understand how they’re building on/situated in this discourse.
