can you explain (or do you have a link to someone who has already explained) the logic behind AMPA donation? I’m guessing it’s just that they are completely on our side for this specific issue because animal welfare and small farmers are aligned here but I’m concerned I’m gonna give money to the “american meat producers” and they will spend some of it lobbying SOB but keep most of it in escrow and then spend it lobbying against e.g. plant based meat next year?
@Bentham’s Bulldog this might be a dumb question: AFAICT the donations to them aren’t restricted? So how can we be sure that they will only be spending this money on defeating the bill?
I’m inclined to believe this although I am somewhat skeptical because I haven’t seen any primary source say this. How do you know that they are only spending their donations on opposing the save our bacon act?
On further review this still looks very tenuous as of June 5. Just donated $2500 to AMPA.
Yes it was stripped from the earliest senate version but might be added back.

Yeah that’s basically it. Money they get is ONLY spent on defeating this bill.
