Expansionism has nothing to say about cases like <… 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0…> vs. <… −1, −1, −1, 100, 1, 1, 1…>, since if you start your expansion suitably far into the −1 zone, its utility stays negative forever. That said, it’s not clear that our intuitions have much to say about this case, either.
Doesn’t that just mean the result depends on where you start, not that it says nothing? If you start your expansion suitably far into the −1 zone and it’s negative forever, then that means it’s worse than the 0s, which remains non-negative forever.
