Effective Altruism Miami—Population ethics

Population ethics deals with the tricky moral issues arising from the effects of today’s decisions on the quality, quantity, and identity of future generations. It questions what actions are morally right or wrong with respect to population growth, migration, fertility, and other related topics.

Our group discussion may include:

  • Moral tradeoffs and approaches to population ethics

  • The repugnant and sadistic conclusions

  • How these ideas affect our lives

No prior knowledge is needed, and we encourage you to attend if you feel uncertain.

When: Saturday, April 22 from 1-3 p.m.

Where: Sabadell Financial Center @ 1111 Brickell Ave, Miami, FL 33131

  • Enter the building through Carrot Express. Once inside, you’ll see a lobby area with a closed coffee shop.

  • We will be in the lobby at a big oval table with an “EA Miami” sign.

  • Brightline: Arrive at the Miami Central station and use the Circuit App to get free last mile transit

  • Metromover: Tenth Street Promenade station

  • Metrorail: Brickell station

  • Tri-rail: Both the Metrorail Transfer and Miami Airport stations connect to the metrorail’s respective green and orange lines

Parking:

  • $3.25/​hour street parking

  • $9/​hour for parking garage
