(This could be an occasion to explain that politically controversial topics tend not to be (politically) tractable or neglected (in terms of media coverage), and are often limited in scope (i.e. focused on domestic political squabbles and symbolic virtue-signaling)
As you said, they’re (almost by definition) not neglected
The media picks topics based on some algorithm which is simply different from the EA algorithm. If that wouldn’t be true, I guess we wouldn’t really need EA
