[Announcement] The Effective Altruism Course on Coursera is Now Open

The free, online course on Effective Altruism, on Coursera, and taught by Peter Singer, professor of philosophy and bioethics at Princeton University has now opened. Enrollment is open to anyone and everyone, and is free. The course was slated to start in May, but was delayed for a few weeks for whatever reason. This is a reminder for anyone to sign up, or start the coursework, lest they forgot about it in the interim. This course follows the recent release of Dr. Singer’s latest book, The Most Good You Can Do, written on the topic of effective altruism.

If you know anyone who is interested in ethics or effective altruism, whether they be college students or not, this course may be a good way to introduce friends to the philosophy and the movement. If you host local meetups for effective altruism, consider planning them around discussing what comes up in the course.

From the course description:

Effective altruism is built on the simple but unsettling idea that living a fully ethical life involves doing the most good one can. In this course you will examine this idea’s philosophical underpinnings; meet remarkable people who have restructured their lives in accordance with it; and think about how effective altruism can be put into practice in your own life.
