I regularly see EAs misrepresenting the impact of their “policy change” donations.
They’ll say something like “$X can save a ton of carbon,” but when you look at a detail they’re only talking about the cost of lobbying IN ORDER TO INCREASE GOVERNMENT SPENDING. They do not include government spending in the cost of saving a ton of carbon.
