Some half baked thoughts: I think this post is good and I agree these two models of engaging with policy should be pursued simultaneously. I just think that this post underrates how much of this is already happening, but in a slightly less public and coordinated way, since there is reputation risks for the EA movement if it starts to be associated with political parties /β specific politicians.
