What would you do if you were the only intelligent being in the universe?

This is a thought experiment meant to get people to think what they value about their existence.

In order to simplify things, let’s make some assumptions: you’re floating in space on an advanced spaceship, with sufficient supplies and intellectual resources. You’re not too old yet, reasonably safe and can effectively handle challenges nature throws at you. You can do a great many things such as cloning yourself, picking a planet to create a new human society, or blowing up the spaceship along with yourself so that there will be no intelligent being in the universe, to name a few. The possibilities are virtually unlimited. But you have no superpower, you cannot violate the laws of physics.

To relieve you from the burden of history, let’s also assume that the universe gets into this state by sheer quantum luck: particles spontaneously formed you and your spaceship but not much else. You’re not responsible for being in this current state.

You can also assume that the universe looks roughly the same as the present one, very big, with planets, stars, galaxies, etc.

What would you do?
