Good Economics for Hard Times Reading Group

Join us for a discussion of Good Economics for Hard Times by Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo. Building on cutting-edge research in economics, authors are trying to find better answers to our biggest problems, including immigration, inequality, technological disruption, and accelerating climate change. The book makes a persuasive case for a society built on compassion and respect and shows how economics, when done right, can help us solve the thorniest social and political problems of the day.

We’ll be discussing the book in full, but if you don’t get a chance to finish the book before the group, feel free to join anyway!

  • We can provide you with a free digital copy of the book if you’re planning to attend the discussion.

  • If the time doesn’t work for you, we are hosting another discussion on July 30 at 5:30 am UTC.

  • Join the #book-club channel at EA Anywhere Slack to engage with other members and suggest books for future discussions.

The event is hosted by EA Anywhere—an online discussion space and a touchpoint for people without local EA groups nearby. If you want to get more involved, check out our events calendar, subscribe to the monthly newsletter, or join our Slack workspace.
