Are abilities in bioinformatic research relevant for a career in biorisk reduction?
I have recently joined a bachelor’s degree on Biological Sciences and I plan to pursue a career in the area of biorisk reduction. There are multiple laboratories in my university that I could, but the most relevant one to my future career seems to be the one concerned with “bioinformatics and virology”. However, I’m not sure if bioinformatics truly are relevant to this field, and I have found no pertinent resources online.
Absolutely! Bioinformatics skills are essential for biorisk reduction. Understanding the genetic makeup of pathogens is critical for assessing and managing risks effectively. Delving into virology through bioinformatics can provide valuable insights into how viruses function and spread. So, getting involved in that lab could be a great step towards your future career goals in biorisk reduction!
Thank you a lot for your response! I feel a lot more assured now.
