1 - EA orgs skipping tests/trials on candidates and instead using candidate performance on tests/trials from other EA orgs? The closest I get is the “top candidate” tag in the HIP database that some EA orgs send 2 - Have you seen hints of top talent applying to less positions due to “test/trial burn-out”? I think this might potentially especially severe for top talent, as they often get to test/trial stages, and might be doing back-to-back tests and trials for weeks or months on end (and for mid career professionals in between care work and other life commitments).
Asking as I am considering if we are losing talent due to this, that it might be fixable by emulating the “one funding application to many funders” model to EA hiring—the tests and trials often test for the same thing, such as prioritization under constraints and judgement under uncertainty. Maybe it is possible to make at least some fraction of trials/tests standardized so candidates do not have to do similar tests/trials over and over again (or shorten them down). Also might be important as e.g. AI field building is quite constrained—I think one might be willing to pay quite a lot for not losing promising talent (and maybe save org time on candidate evaluation).
Have anyone seen any of the following?
