EAA reading group meeting #4: Effective animal advocacy

The Effective Animal Advocacy reading group works its way through the syllabus for the Effective Animal Advocacy course taught at NYU by Prof. Jeff Sebo.

This reading group, organized by Tracy Timmins and Kale Ridsdale, is ideal for anyone who is interested in reading deeper on the effective altruist approach to the problem of animal suffering, and discussing some practical and theoretical challenges to the approach.

The syllabus covers:

  • Applied rationality

  • Effective altruism

  • Effective animal advocacy

  • The EAA movement

  • Theoretical issues

  • Practical issues

  • Animal welfare and rights

  • Social and institutional change

  • Legal and political change

  • Technological and economic change

  • The limits of animal advocacy

  • The future of animal advocacy

There’s no need to commit to all sessions and participants can join when a topic is of interest.
