Thanks a lot for writing this up! I related to a lot of this, especially to #4. I’m curious if you have any concrete advice for orienting more towards being proactive? Or is this just something that slowly happened over time?
I think a good way to practice being proactive is to do lots of backwards chain/theory of change type thinking with outrageously favourable assumptions. For example, pretend you have infinite resources and anyone and everyone is willing to help you along the way.
Start with an ambitious goal, and then think about what the fastest way to get there. What are the fewest concrete steps you can take? Then you can see which are doable later, get some feedback on it, and do some murphyjitsu and explore alternative options on subsets of it.
Some things are big multipliers, such as keeping options open and networking widely.
