I think the following rules, to supplement EA’s discussion norms, would make the debate better. CB, would you agree to them?
No misquotes.
No editing or deleting messages.
Clarifying details: Any text in quotation marks, or blockquoted, should be a 100% exact quote (and not misleading, taken out of context, or misattributed) if a reasonable reader might expect it to be a (direct, literal) quote. Basically, use copy/paste for quotes and then don’t change them. Losing formatting (e.g. italics or links) when quoting is OK because, as far as I know, EA’s software has no reasonable way to quote with formatting (though some text editors, like Ulysses, can help).
