Thanks for posting this. I found a lot of it resonant — particularly the stuff about inventing reasons to discount positive feedback, and having to pile on more and more unlikely beliefs to avoid updating to “I’m good at this.”
I remember, fairly recently, taking seriously some version of “I’m not actually good at this stuff, I’m just absurdly skilled at fooling others into thinking that I am.” I don’t know man, it seemed like a pretty good hypothesis at the time.

I think this might be one of my current hypothesis for why I am doing what I am doing.
Or maybe I think I think it’s ~60% likely I’m ok at my job, and 40% likely I have fooled other people into thinking I’m ok at my job.
