I have a relatively mild version of imposter syndrome and a “hack” that helped once or twice is being upfront about how I think about my abilities. If people still want to work with me I feel like the expectations are at least more in line with reality and nobody will be particularly disappointed. And then I might as well make the best out of it.
Oh, and another hack that comes to mind is making predictions about my performance. After writing down “Okay, I got to application round 2. Maybe there’s a 10% chance that I’ll get to round 3, and a 1% chance that I’ll get a job offer...” I feel more decoupled from the whole process, like I’m doing an experiment and am being #reasonable no matter what happens because I’m making predictions. xD
