For those of us who are unfamiliar with Progress Studies, I think it would help if you clarified what exactly that community thinks or advocates.
Is the idea simply to prioritize economic growth? Is it about increasing the welfare of people alive today / in the near future? Would distributing malaria bed nets count as something that a Progress Studies person might advocate qua Progress Studies advocate? Or is it about technological development specifically? (If bed nets don’t count as Progress Studies, would development of CRISPR technologies to eradicate malaria count? If yes, why? (Assume the CRISPR technology has the same estimated cost-effectiveness for preventing malaria deaths as bed nets over the next century.))
