I think you are overstretching the claims I’m making here. Rather I am saying the heurestic and insinuations are that:
There is a clear split in longtermism and neartermist action for people where most EAs act in both regards and that the Bay Area memeing is unnecessarily divisive and misunderstands people’s motivation.
At no point do I excuse nor do I think most people excuse the sexual abuse that is too common.
I think people need to be more good faith in wondering why people shifted from things like GHW to AI Safety/CB/Governance in their jobs rather than presume it’s from some source of greed (though I have no doubt some did it out of self-interest and cannot speak for them).
