Mercial facilitator applications are open!

TL;DR This is a low-bar, low-cost way to facilitate useful research in AI Safety. You should apply.

How relevant will persona research be in the future of AI safety?

What kind of message boards attract colluding agents?

How should we handle research done by AIs?

These are some of the questions that the next cohort of the Mercial Research Fellowship will work on from November 1st to December 1st, and facilitator applications are now open! As a Mercial facilitator, you will provide accountability and organisation to fellows, and help guide them towards producing a high quality output for the Mercial blog. You can propose your own questions, or apply to facilitate one of our proposed problems.

We have a relatively low bar for facilitators—you don’t need to be an expert in the domain you facilitate, but should be comfortable reading AI safety papers and able to sanity-check fellows’ ideas. Facilitators usually meet with fellows ~1 time a week, and commit 1-2 hours a week towards supporting & keeping fellows on track. This is a great, low-commitment way to get on the Mercial Blog, gain experience supervising research, and have impact!
