My best guess isthat those soil animals have negative lives, so I think decreasing their animal-years by increasing land use is beneficial. I infer the following replacements are generally beneficial due to increasing land use:
Plant-based foods, farmed shrimp (prawns), eggs, or farmed fish with poultry or pig meat.
