Join us for an evening of discussion & a group activity, the Ideological Turing Test. It is like the Turing Test (when a computer tries to credibly pass as a human over text chat), except with humans trying to credibly pass as advocating for a position that they don’t actually believe in.
It’s a helpful exercise in understanding alternative viewpoints and practicing steelman arguments.
This is a repeat of the South Bay EA activity from 2019. Past feedback showed that participants had fun, so we are excited to bring it back for another run!
**IMPORTANT: Please bring a laptop, or you’ll be using your phone to type a lot.
Date: Thursday, September 7
Time: 7:00 – 9:30 pm
We will get started right at 7:30pm, so please try to arrive on time.
Address: 1048 Polk Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
27 minute (1.3) mile walk from the Sunnyvale Caltrain station
Street parking is available
As always, this event is open to anyone. No background knowledge is needed, we will provide background info, context, definitions, and suggested discussion. Please RSVP so I can plan for enough drinks & snacks.
