How Can We Know What is Good for Insects?

Speaker: Heather Browning, PhD; Southhampton University, UK

There is a growing concern for the welfare of insects due to recognition of their probable sentience and their increasing use. However, this still leaves open the question of what is good for insects – what sort of conditions are best for their welfare, and how we could assess how good their welfare is.

In this talk, Dr. Browning will discuss some potential methods for answering the question of what is good for insects, highlighting current knowledge gaps and the most urgent next steps for insect welfare research.
