How should we interpret âthe UEV of strategy s is [a,b]â? This does not mean âif I thought more, probably Iâd consider the UEV to be some number in this interval, but Iâm uncertain which oneâ, or âall values in this interval are equally plausible UEVsâ. Instead, our evaluation of the strategyâs âexpectedâ impact is irreduciblyindeterminate. We simply donât narrow it down further. That is, s is:
better than a strategy that guarantees value a, and
worse than a strategy that guarantees value b, but
incomparable with a strategy that guarantees value c, for any c in (a,b). Itâs neither better, nor worse, nor exactly as good as that strategy.
Did you mean âbetter or equalâ in the 1st bullet, and âworse or equalâ in the 2nd bullet?
Did you mean âbetter or equalâ in the 1st bullet, and âworse or equalâ in the 2nd bullet?
yep, thanks!
