Somewhat nit-picky, but this seems underspecified: e.g. if the population goes to zero in a very violent and painful way that would be negative, while if it goes to zero but the process takes a million (or a billion etc) years and is very benign and pleasant along the way, that should be positive. I assume you mean something like âif everyone ceased to exist painlessly tomorrowâ.
