CANCELLED: EA Hamburg Session: Risks of astronomical future suffering (s-risks) and how we might be able to mitigate them

Join us for the next EA Hamburg talk & discussion by Sören Klinger:

An amazing future that lasts for eternity is most certainly worth aiming for 🌱. We imagine all sentient beings flourish and enjoy profoundly happy and meaningful lives.
But what could go wrong once we ensure eternal survival? Instead of the complete annihilation of Earth-originating sentience, worst-case future scenarios could also contain vast amounts of suffering unheard of in history. How could they come about and what can we do to prevent them?

Transformative technologies like advanced AI AS well as the values and institutions of society at large have immense potential to shape the trajectory of our civilisation. Which interventions are robustly avoiding dystopian outcomes and how much should we prioritize them? Let’s discuss!

📍We’ll meet at Bucerius law school in room 0.01 at 19:00.

Looking forward to see you upcoming tuesday!
