I very much liked to read all the 4 posts (this one and the 3 more in-depth ones) about energy descent that you wrote for us on the Forum.
I also read all the content on your additional document. That document shows a very thoughtful writing with a lot of background study and sintetization.
I vehemently recommend to individual EAs that they consider seriously the arguments and conclusions made by Corentin Biteau. The risk of not considering his arguments with intelectual curiosity and time for thinking is that you will lose out on a good oportunity to further your knowledge and insights about the world we live in.
Plus, I’m not an “authority” in EA but if you like the scientific principle of precaution you will most likely like to read it I believe.
Before drawing fast conclusions on the topic of energy descent, I recommend reading all his posts and the complete additional document. Reading everything before commenting would be intelectually ideal and fair. It equally shows intelectual humility and curiosity.
You may not like to read what I’m going to say but while some (a lot of?) individual EAs were and are wasting time and energy being techno-optimists, Corentin Biteau was spending his time and energy on being a techno-realist. And a brilliant one for that matter.
In matters of energy Corentin Biteau may be the most brilliant EA addressing the energy topic in the EA movement right know. He will keep being it if more EAs don’t show up for this serious conversation about energy and try to reason better than him about this topic.
I conclude my comment by saying that there is a before and a after after Corentin Biteau started to post about energy descent on this Forum. EA is now more rich with him.
