I think openly and transparently discussing EA money and its use is the opposite of a reputational risk.
The more money there is, the more dangerous handling it behind curtains becomes, and even being perceived like that is bad for EA.
Reputational risks are maybe in sharing ideas that would be perceived as immoral in the general society, or being jerks to people. Not being open about our points of uncertainty.
