less research flexibility than academia, FHI, or most independent research/blogging
point.
After a natural resting point in my other research, I felt a bit of intuitive unease about jumping into AI gov immediately. So I’ve been mostly doing brainstorming, contacting people about weird ideas etc. I’ve done this with the full support of Peter, Michael, and other people at RP. So I think there’s more research flexibility at RP for people who want it and can justify it than I previously thought; a bigger question is how much you want it.
