Something I don’t really emphasise in this sequence is the question of how much it matters to get more quite good and fitting EA-aligned researchers vs getting more exceptionally good EA-aligned researchers. I haven’t looked into that question in great detail, and am currently somewhat agnostic. I think most of what I say in the sequence roughly applies regardless of what the correct answer to that question is. But this is partly because most of what I say is laying out broad problems, goals, intervention options, etc. - for people who are evaluating, designing, and/or implementing specific interventions, thinking more about that question seems important.
