[I’m doing a bunch of low-effort reviews of posts I read a while ago and think are important. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to re-read them or say very nuanced things about them.]
Yes, since it is a personal inspiration as opposed to a comparison or an appeal? Except perhaps for the image of the child with leukemia/example of a relatively less impactful charity: it can seem that EA seeks to take away from loving families who would not approve of their children suffering, in order to share with those who are accustomed to their situations. A better image or messaging can be, for example, this blind person and a guide dog image, where the dog seems quite excessive, so can connote that EA seeks to avoid making investments where they are unnecessary.
whilst community building and leading intro fellowships I have heard 50+ people say that this video on YouTube was the reason they joined the EA community.l
