I also find this weird.
The traditional EA / AI funding strategy seems to be: “Take money from EAs only, and keep things on the low.”I assume we generally don’t want to convince or actively many others to invest more in AI capabilities. But Situational Awareness and the fund’s openness to many investors seem very much not like that. I’m really curious what Leopold’s thinking on this is.
