I like thinking in terms of “there are some battles that almost nobody is fighting, so I can be one of the only people in the world advancing those areas”, as opposed to, for example, trying to beat the stock market—which many many smart people are already trying to do, all competing with each other (and with me)
Can individual drivers who practice safe driving make a difference? Of course they can! It’s individual drivers who yield, who drive carefully and cautiously (as opposed to recklessly and aggressively). Collectively, enough safe drivers can create a cooperative atmosphere, and increase overall traffic efficiency. And driving attitudes and behaviors can be changed through education and incentives.
