I also agree that it would be the same in richer countries too. Whenever you ask somebody a question and they say “It depends”, that would be something that wouldn’t show up in a typical survey.
So far my main update has been towards wider confidence intervals across the board and updating less drastically based on data, regardless of the source. All the while keeping in mind that just because science isn’t all-knowing, that doesn’t mean that anecdotes or intuition are better :P
So true! I wrote about my own experience running surveys in Rwanda and it was a similar thing. Same with surveys in India.
