[Question] Is working in data governance in industry a good way to gain career capital for AI governance roles?

Dear Effective Altruism community,

I’m starting an internship in August where I am going to help start the data management and governance program for a private company. The main executives are interested in incorporating AI for decision making using the data the company produces but good data governance is required first.

My question is: Is that kind of experience useful or valuable for AI policy organizations and AI policy roles? Please consider I have a bachelor in Computer Science.

I would be very grateful if you could reply to my doubt.
