FTX Open Thread
TLDR: Post your thoughts on FTX here if you don’t think it’s worth making a top-level post or if you’re worried we’re hyper-focusing on this issue. I’m not a moderator or associated with the forum in any official capacity, just a community member creating an unofficial open thread.
One thing that I’ve noticed recently is that an overwhelming number of recent posts are about FTX.
On one hand, this is a pretty major issue for EA, so it makes sense that there’s a lot of discussion about it.
On the other hand, I’m worried that we might be hyper-focusing on it. I’m not saying people should completely stop paying attention to this issue—we’ll gain more information over time—just that there’s only so much that can be said at this point in time.
So for these reasons, I’d like to encourage people to consider posting further thoughts or reflections on this thread so they don’t completely dominate the front page, but obviously use your own judgment as to which choice is best.

Thanks for posting this!
As a reminder, if you feel overwhelmed by FTX-crisis-related content on the Forum, you can hide most of it by using a tag filter: hover over the “FTX crisis” tag on the Frontpage (find it to the right of the “Frontpage Posts” header), and click on “Hidden.”
This piece on the New Republic argues that EA as a movement depends way to much on billionaire donors.

Feel we should replace that source of funds in some sustainable way. Perhaps build up a good stablecoin eco or robust limit order business. ( Ping me for getting started. )
Stablecoins are a terrible idea for a “stable source of funds”. The crypto industry has been collapsing for months, and there is a non-zero chance that it will never recover.
