Thanks for writing all of this Ben. I agree with everything you have said and like your ideas. I also think that we should:
nudge more EAs to get research etc management experience in industry before returning to work in new EA organisations.
have a management consultancy type org or network for providing fractional management oversight/advice to new organisations. For instance, 10 hours a week to advise how to set up a research team or to sit in on supervision meetings and pass on best practices.
have a norm that managers at places like Rethink occassionally do placements at other research organisations to pass on their knowledge and best practice
have some people who are involved across many established and new research orgs (maybe as funders) and incentivised to understand and speed up the dissemination of collective best practice (e.g., via talk with CEOs/founders or writing up what they have learned)
