Previous BERI annual reports have concluded with a list of predictions (2021, 2020) about BERI’s activities for the following year. This year, however, we wanted to challenge ourselves to publish a list of goals for 2024 in addition to predictions to further support our commitment to transparency and accountability. You can view our blog post detailing all of our goals and predictions in the link above.
What is BERI?
If you aren’t familiar with us, BERI is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity. Our main focus is collaborating with university research groups working to reduce existential risk by providing them with support and services that unblock tasks and projects that are difficult or impossible to accomplish through existing university administration channels. We currently work with 37 university groups around the globe.
2023 was a big year for BERI. Our full-time core staff doubled in size (expanding from a solo effort to a team of two). We greatly expanded our university collaborations program, bringing on twice as many new collaborators in 2023 as in any previous year. We spent a significant amount of time working on internal projects that would set a strong foundation for us going into 2024, and we’re excited to share what our goals and plans are for this year.
