Hmm, I think most of these grants were made when EA had much more money (pre-FTX crash), which made funding bio work much more reasonable than funding bio work rn, by my lights. I think on the current margin, we probably should fund stellar bio work.
Also, I want to note that talking negatively about specific applications might be seen as “punching down” or make applying to the LTFF higher risk than an applicant could have reasonably thought so fund managers may be unwilling to give concrete answers here.

I think that’s true, but I also notice that I tend to vote lower on bio-related grants than do others on the fund, so I suspect there’s still somewhat of a strategic difference of opinion between me and the fund average on that point.
Yeah I tend to have higher uncertainty/a flatter prior about the EV of different things compared to many folks in a similar position; it’s also possible I haven’t sufficiently calibrated to the new funding environment.
What are some past LTFF grants that you disagree with?
In my personal opinion, the LTFF has historically funded too many bio-related grants and hasn’t sufficiently triaged in favor of AI-related work.
